Seeing exactly what they answered

Open any past session question by question, jump straight to the ones they got wrong, and look at a single topic across every session they have done.

The short version Open a student, then Tests and practice, and click any session. You will see every question exactly as they saw it, with the answer they chose. Use the row of numbered squares to jump straight to the ones that went wrong. To look at one topic instead of one test, click any row in How they're getting on.

Opening a session

Tests and practice sits on a student's page, under How they're getting on. Every session they have completed is listed newest first, with the date, the score, and how many questions went wrong — so you can often see what you need without opening anything.

Click a session and it opens question by question. Each one is drawn exactly as the child saw it: the same wording, the same options in the same order, the same picture. Their answer is marked, the right answer is marked, and where a question has a worked explanation it appears underneath the ones they got wrong.

The numbered squares One per question, green for right and amber for wrong. Click one to jump straight to that question. On a forty-question mock this is the difference between finding the eight that went wrong and scrolling past the thirty-two that did not.
Only the ones they got wrong Hides everything else. The squares renumber to match, so what you are looking at and what you are clicking always agree.
The time beside each question How long they spent on it. Useful for spotting a question they raced through and a question they sat on — those are different problems. Parents do not see these.
Some older sessions cannot be opened

Question-by-question detail has only been saved since answer logging was added. A session from before that shows its score but is not clickable, and says so rather than opening an empty screen.

Looking at one topic instead of one test

A misunderstanding rarely lives in one test. If a child has the same trouble with equivalent fractions four weeks running, that shows up as one wrong answer in each of four sessions — and reading four sessions to find it is exactly the work nobody has time for.

So every row in How they're getting on is clickable. It opens every answer that child has ever given in that topic, newest first, each one dated. The same Only the ones they got wrong filter is there, and on this screen it is usually the first thing to press.

This is the screen to open before a lesson. "Three of the last four Fractions questions she got wrong were the same kind of conversion" is a lesson plan; "62% in Fractions" is not.

What a question looks like if it has changed

Questions occasionally change — a typo fixed, a picture corrected, a question retired. If a question has been edited since it was answered, it is shown as a short note rather than as the current version, because showing today's wording next to an answer given to yesterday's would be misleading in a way nobody could spot.

Your own imported and authored questions appear here in full, exactly like ours.

What parents see

Parents have the same screen in their own portal, under Practice history, for their own children only. It is deliberately a little quieter than yours:

Everything else is the same: the same questions, the same answers, and the same worked explanations. If a parent asks you what their child got wrong, they can already see it.

Nobody sees another family's child

A parent reaches only children they are a guardian of, and you reach only students in your own account. That is checked on every request rather than by hiding a button.
